Welcome, One and All

In a world that often feels pulled apart by differences in tech, politics, or everyday life I've found a simple yet profound anchor that helps me navigate it all. It comes from my Catholic faith, but its core message is something I believe speaks to everyone: the call to love fully and empathetically.

Let me explain a bit about where I'm coming from. As a husband, dad to three young kids (and now a rambunctious puppy), and someone who's spent decades in the tech world, from geeking out on video games as a kid to hacking systems as a penetration tester and now leading a cybersecurity team, life has thrown me curveballs. I wandered away from my faith for 20 years, tangled in indecision, a tough relationship, and the distractions of a digital age. But rediscovering it a few years back, especially through the lens of family trials like my son's liver transplant (thanks to my incredible sister-in-law's donation), has shown me the real fruits of grace: resilience, connection, and a deeper sense of purpose.

At the heart of this is a teaching from Jesus in the Gospel of Mark (12:28-34). When asked about the greatest commandment, He said:

"The first is, 'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'"

And right after:

"The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

These aren't just ancient words to me. They're a daily guide. When anger bubbles up over a news headline, or remorse hits after a family misstep, Jesus reminds me to pause, listen, and choose empathy. They're simple, but they've carried titanic weight in my life, helping me see the humanity in everyone. Even those I disagree with.
